Withstand voltage - ISO 16750-2

This test ensures the dielectric withstand voltage capability of circuits with galvanic isolation. This test is required only for system/components which contains inductive elements (e.g. relays, motors, coils), or are connected to circuits with inductive load. The deliberate overvoltage between the galvanically isolated current carrying parts of the DUT could have a negative effect on insulation performance caused by the electrical field. This test stresses the insulation system and checks the ability of the dielectric material to withstand a higher voltage caused by switching off inductive loads.
